A stellar year at Jimmy’s Double D Fishing Trip, version 12 on Lake Nipissing with a 5 day, 4 night stay for 24 participants at Nipissing Lodge, a short boat ride from Wade’s Landing. As always, the food, accommodations and fellowship was excellent.
Fishing this year was once again fantastic with great numbers of fish caught. Standout highlight of the year was Brad Harrow’s 29 inch / 11 pound walleye caught first day of the tournament, biggest we’ve seen from Nipissing on all our trips! Plenty of walleye caught and as well as a big uptick in massive jumbo perch caught made for a great fish fry on our Saturday evening. We were also treated to a few of Nipissing’s legendary sunsets (as well as a massive thunderstorm!).
Catch, measure and photograph, and release tournaments were held over four days in each of three categories: walleye, pike, and bass (using total length of each participants top three fish in each category). The entire group would like to thank the various sponsors who provided a pile of prizes for the tournaments. Congrats to this year’s overall champion, Mark Biesinger, who also took first place in the bass division and third in both walleye and pike divisions. Congrats to Walleye division winner Brad Harrow and pike division winner Mitch Boertien. Already looking forward to JDD XIII, next year!
